10 things for October.

10 things for October.

Small things to brighten up your month.

-Cardamom coffee. There’s just something about the hint of cardamom that puts me in a slightly better mood in the morning. Also, prepping the coffee machine the night before always feels like a small win when I wake up.

-Hydrangeas. The only flower for fall, right? Pic by @martinabode

-Eye patches. A small everyday luxury I love during the fall months. I often use them in the mornings for a little extra boost. My favorites are from @xlash and @summerfridays, but I’m very excited to try the updated ones from @verso.

-Filling the freezer. October is for baking banana bread and cardamom cake, cooking big batches of bolognese and lentil stews - and filling the freezer. It brings me so much joy to pull out a small treat to have with my morning coffee (especially when one of the kids wakes up at 5:30 am). And there’s nothing better than not having to cook from scratch on a Tuesday evening.

- Mandatory evening read. Curling up in bed, putting the phone away, and reading before sleep is the ultimate October self-care. Right now I’m reading Jojo Moyes’ Someone else’s shoes, a perfect easy evening read. Plus, you always sleep better after some reading and no phone!

-Green smoothies. Frozen spinach and kale, a banana, almond milk, frozen mango, and a spoonful of peanut butter.

-The small scarf. I’ve been wearing a small cotton scarf from @celine constantly. It’s the perfect in-between when it’s too chilly to go bare, but too warm for a knit scarf. If you’re looking for one, I recommend a brown paisley that I’ve been eyeing from @lescarf - might be my next fall purchase!

-Time for retinol. A few weeks ago I reintroduced retinol into my skincare routine, and it’s made such a difference - especially in texture, pores, and the occasional pimple. I use the one from @persskincare, which I absolutely love: effective but never irritating. Can’t wait to launch this brand soon so you can try it too!

-Apple cakes. This is the season for baking anything with apples, soft cakes, pies, crumbles, compotes. The list goes on! This one by @marmeladeriet is a favourite recipe!

-Mont d’Or. And while we’re on the topic of food, you have to eat at least one Mont d’Or cheese this October. Paired with some charcuterie, bread, and cornichons it’s basically a mini cheese fondue. The perfect Saturday dinner, if you ask me.
